Malaria

MODES OF SPREAD

• Transmitted by the bite of mosquito (female anopheles)
• Accidentally by hypodermic intramuscular and intravenous injections of blood

SYMPTOMS

•  High grade fever with chills and rigors

•  More during nights and fever on alternative days

•  Headache and body pains

•  Vomiting, diarrhea, coughing and yellowing (jaundice) of the skin and whites of the eyes may develop

•  Patient with these symptoms should go for blood testing for malaria which is done free of cost in government hospitals

PREVENTION

•  Preventing the mosquito bite is the only means to prevent malaria

•  Mosquito nets are used to windows and doors

•  Water stagnation around houses should be prevented

•  Water tanks are to be closed with proper lids
