            Tadalafil

Tadalafil is a popularly used drug for treating male erectile dysfunction or impotence. The drug belongs to the class of "phosphodiesterase inhibitors" , which also includes sildenafil (Viagra) and vardenafil (Levitra). The drug was developed by the biotechnology firm ICOS and marketed worldwide by Eli Lilly.

The drug is also known as the "Weekend Pill", due to its 36-hour effect. The drug is available in the form of almond-shaped yellow tablets. The tablets are marketed in 5, 10, or 20mg doses.

Working
The drug acts by inhibiting or stopping PDE5 enzyme. A 20 mg dose of Tadalafil can be compared to a 100 mg dose of sildenafil or Viagra.

Dosage
The initial dose should be 10 mg per day, taken before sexual activity. The dose may be increased later to 20 mg, depending on the adequacy of the response or side effects. The effect of the drug lasts upto 36 hours.

Side Effects
The drug has certain side effects, that can affect individuals in different ways. The following are some of the side effects, that are often associated with the drug:
