Levofloxacin Loratidine

            Lisinopril (Anhydrous)

Lisinopril is a popular drug, used alone for treating high blood pressure or hypertension. The drug is also used in combination with other medicines for treating heart failure. The drug belongs to the class of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.

Working
Inhibition of ACE by lisinopril reduces the plasma angiostein Ii levels which lead to vasodilation and reduction of aldosterone secretion thus lowering the blood pressure. The drug acts by reducing certain chemicals, responsible for tightening the blood vessels. This leads to smooth flow of blood

Dosage
Hypertension: Initially 10 mg once daily
Maintenance dose: 20-40 mg /day. Max 80 mg once daily.

Contra- Indications: Hypersensitivity, aortic stenosis, outflow obstruction, pregnancy, children and nursing mothers

Side Effects
The drug has certain side effects, that can affect individuals in different ways. The following are some of the side effects, that are often associated with the drug:
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Cough
  • Diarrhoea
  • Hypotension
