Levocetrizine Mecobalamin

            Levamisole Hydrochloride

Levamisole hydrochloride is a drug belonging to the class of agents known as 'biologic response modifiers'. The drug is commonly used together with fluorouracil for treating Duke's Stage C colon cancer. The drug has FDA approval for cancer treatment.

Working
The drug acts by stimulating the immune system and helping it work better and finally prevent metastases when given to patients after surgical removal of colon cancer. The drug is often combined with chemotherapy drug fluorouracil for better results. It may be also used for treating other types of cancers along with other chemotherapy drugs.

Dosage
The drug is available in tablet form, in doses of 50 and 150 mg. It is administered orally , 3 times a day, every two weeks, together with fluorouracil, for a period of 1 year. The dosage is the same for all patients. Consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited, when taking the medicine.

Contra- Indications: Pregnancy and Lactation The drug may cause birth defects in the unborn child when taken during pregnancy.

Side Effects
The drug has certain side effects, that can affect individuals in different ways. The following are some of the side effects, that are often associated with the drug:
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Stomatitis
  • Anorexia
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Constipation
  • Flatulence
  • Dyspepsia
