Doxycycline Omeprazole

            Lansoprazole

Lansoprazole is a popular type of drug, belonging to the class of proton pump inhibitors. The drug is used for treating ulcers; gastroenteritides reflux disease (GERD)It also cures conditions where the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. The drug is often is used in combination with other medications to eliminate H. pylori, a bacteria that causes ulcers.

Working
The drug acts by reducing the amount of acid made in the stomach. It reduces gastric secretion through a highly selective mechanism of action. It produces specific dose dependent inhibition of the enzyme H+, K+ ATPAse (the proton pump) in the parietal cell. As this action inhibits the final stage of gastric acid formation, there is effective inhibition of both basal and stimulated acid secretion irrespective of the stimulus to acid formation.

Dosage
30 mg once daily

Contra- Indications:Pregnancy, Nursing mothers, Children

Side Effects
The drug has certain side effects, that can affect individuals in different ways. The following are some of the side effects, that are often associated with the drug:
  • Diarrhoea
  • Skin disorders
  • Respiratory tract symptoms
  • Headache
