            Ardeparin

Ardeparin is used to prevent blood clot formation following knee replacement surgery. It is an anticoagulant (blood thinner). These blood clots can travel to the lungs and can become lodged in the blood vessels of the lungs, causing a condition called pulmonary embolism. It may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide as determined by your doctor.

Uses
  • This medication is a "blood thinner" which helps in preventing formation of blood clots.
  • It is used for various types of knee surgeries.
  • Used to prevent deep venous thrombosis, a condition in which harmful blood clots form in the blood vessels of the legs.
How to use \ dosage ?
This medication is dealt by injection under the skin, by a health care professional usually twice a day following surgery. Injection sites will be rotated to limit irritation. Do not inject into a muscle (intramuscularly). Properly discard used syringes and needles. Therapy with this medication may be continued for 7 to 14 days or until the risk of blood clot formation is limited.

Safety tips
Do not use this medication if you have the following problems:
  • Low level of platelets in your blood
  • Allergy to pork products
  • High blood pressure
  • Stomach ulcer
  • Liver or kidney disease
  • Hemophilia or another blood disorder
  • Bacterial endocarditis
You may not be able to use ardeparin, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during therapy if you have any of the conditions listed.

  • Bruising or bleeding inside your body
  • Weakness
  • Numbness
  • Difficulty in urine or pain

  • Pain
  • Irritation
  • Redness
  • Mental confusion
  • Trouble breathing
  • Fevers
  • Itching
  • Swelling
  • Rashes
  • Bleeding gums
  • Paralysis
  • Vomiting
  • Increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
